The District Taco Taco-Eating Contest is open to everyone 18 years old or older. Each participant must complete the eligibility requirements and waiver of liability before entering. All entries must be received by Thursday, January 6, 2011. Nine entries will be randomly pulled and the contestants will be contacted via e-mail on Friday, January 7, 2011. If a contestant does not respond, a replacement will be selected to compete. All entry forms become the property of District Taco LLC. District Taco will submit one ‘house entry’ to compete as the 10th contestant.

Rules

There will be one competition for all contestants. All contestants must be present and signed-in at District Taco by 6 pm on Monday, January 10, 2011. A contestant will forfeit his or her place should he or she fail to register at the District Taco table by 6 pm and be continuously present for the duration of the contest. Contestants will also forfeit his or her place if they leave District Taco after they register.

The object is to eat as many tacos as possible within the allotted 15 minute period.

Tacos will be served in the following order and will repeat once completed:

1. Breakfast taco (egg, cheese, chorizo)
2. Pollo asado (chicken, cheese, pico de gallo)
3. Carnitas (pork, cheese, pico de gallo)
4. Carne asada (steak, cheese, pico de gallo)

Contestants may eat either sitting or standing and must complete eating the entire taco and all contents before proceeding to the next taco. No substitutions for any of the tacos. Contestants must wait for the starting signal and must stop eating and must promptly place their hands down on the table or at their side at the ending signal. Contestants will be allowed 15 seconds to finish any tacos already in their mouth at the time of the ending signal. Any contestant that throws up will be disqualified. Judges will be on hand to assure adherence to contest rules, tally the number of tacos eaten, monitor the “no throw up or regurgitating” rule, and to disqualify contestants who fail to adhere to the rules. We reserve the right to disqualify any contestants for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Winners will be determined by number of tacos eaten. In the event of a tie, after a brief interval, 2 minute eat-offs will take place until the winner is selected.

Awards

The contestant that eats the most tacos within the 15 minute period will be declared the District Taco Taco-Eating Champion. Their picture will be taken and placed on the Wall of Fame with much fanfare and celebration. The champion and runner-ups will also receive District Taco awards such as t-shirts, hats, stickers and best of all–free tacos.

History will shine upon the grand taco-eating champions of District Taco!
