Tenleytown is one of the oldest communities in the District of Columbia, second only to Georgetown. Tenleytown was developed in the late 18th century as a rural village outside Washington, D.C. The village centered on a tavern built by John Tennally to accommodate wagon traffic moving from outlying farms to the port of Georgetown. Originally known as “Tennallytown,” the commercial area consisted of a few stores, a blacksmith shop, and a church surrounded by farms, orchards, dairies, and forest. Notable remnants of old Tennallytown can be found at The Rest, a large house at 39 th and Warren, and Dunblane, now on the campus of the Washington College of Law.

Our authentic Yucatán inspired menu makes our tacos the best in Tenleytown! We also offer other award winning entrées including burritos, salads, bowls, quesadillas, and more. We offer Itza® and guacamole as Vegan protein options for all of our menu items.
We serve only the freshest ingredients picked from local farms at their peak of each location's growing season.
Our menu pays homage to our founder's family recipes from Yucatán. The meats are seasoned just like he remembers as a kid. In 2009, Osiris and his neighbor, Marc Wallace, got together over some homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and decided to launch the District Taco food cart in Rosslyn.
Over a decade later, District Taco is operating multiple restaurants across Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania, with ongoing plans to expand.
