District Taco Silver Spring is now officially open in the Blairs Shopping Center on East West Highway in downtown Silver Spring! On Monday, July 1st, we hosted our Grand Opening event to launch the latest restaurant, the second in Maryland for DT.
With a long line out the door, customers waited eagerly to be one of the first 100 in line to receive some DT swag as well as a free meal. Our neighbors at Moorenko's also joined us for the celebration passing out delicious ice cream samples, perfect for the hot, summer day right before the 4th of July. Offering some of our well-known favorites including Nachos Borrachos, specialty & breakfast tacos, and more, we are so excited to bring our delicious menu to the Silver Spring neighborhood!
Following our tradition, we also teamed up with Leveling the Playing Field, a local organization based in Silver Spring dedicated to giving underprivileged children the opportunity to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of youth sports participation. Partnering with LTPF, a portion of the day's sales went back to the organization and marked just the beginning of our community involvement. We are thrilled at the opportunity to get involved in our community and hope that all of our Silver Spring fans will help this great organization and get involved as well.
Adding a special touch to our restaurant, we worked with local artist Juan Pineda, known around town as Criomatic, to bring a special mural to our walls. A DC-based visual artist bringing urban-contemporary/ street art to the walls of the DC Metro area, Pineda continues to create art in all mediums and categories and we couldn't be more thrilled with the unique feature to our restaurant. Up next for District Taco is our Abington restaurant which is set to open later this year. This will mark our 15th restaurant and be the 3rd location in the Philadelphia area. This new location will be located on Old York Road.
2019 has been a big year for DT and we can't wait to see what is next for us this year!
