Employee Spotlight - Paloma Moreno

Employee Spotlight - Paloma Moreno

Meet Paloma Moreno.

Today is International Women's Day and we wanted to celebrate by highlighting one of our star cashiers!

Paloma Moreno, a cashier at our Bailey’s Crossroads location! She is very driven and passionate about working at District Taco. She loves being a part of the team and we love having her! During our St. Jude fundraiser, Paloma was the top cashier out of all of our locations. Way to go Paloma!

DT: Can you tell us a little about yourself and your story here at District Taco?

PM: Before coming to District Taco, I worked at a fast-food chain. I had previous customer service experience in the food industry. Back in August, I applied for a cashier position at District Taco and I was hired for the full-time for the position. Here at District Taco, they promote from within. I knew I had to start at the bottom and work my way up, and that is what I am doing. The other team members I work with are incredible. We make a great team, I really enjoy my job!

Back in October, all of our District Taco locations participated in a fundraiser to raise money for St. Jude. Bailey’s was our top producing store and Paloma was the top cashier. We wanted to know what that meant to her!

I have always been very passionate about the organization and their mission. When we started the fundraiser, I knew I wanted to help make a difference. Customers could spend an extra dollar and purchase a pin up of a child's picture who was currently a St. Jude patient. Every day, I endeavored to encourage customers to contribute to such a great cause. I was proud of myself for being the top cashier, I completely outdid myself.

What is your favorite thing about working at DT?

I am originally from Mexico. My English is not very good since it is not my first language. However, I have a passion for customer service. I love interacting with the customers that come into our restaurant. I always greet them and ask how their day is going. I enjoy seeing our regulars because I have developed relationships with them. I know our regulars by name and their order by memory! Overall, I enjoy interacting with people every day.

Why did you start working at DT?

As I previously mentioned, I used to work at a fast-food chain and I reached a point where I was ready for a change. At the time, one of my friends was working at a District Taco location and mentioned it was a great company (and people!) to work for. She encouraged me to apply and so I did!

What do you hope for in terms of the future of your job here at DT?

Right now, I am just enjoying working here, but I plan to stay with the company. I don’t know what the future holds but I am definitely staying open to opportunities!

Do you have any goals?

Not particularly, I would like to move up with in the restaurant in the future, maybe an assistant manager or a manager one day. I am not quite sure, but I am open if the opportunity presents itself! I want to continue to work hard. I want to be able to help my family out as much as I can.

Now for a random question! If you were to win the lottery, what would you do with the money?

If I were to win the lottery, I would help my family. I have family that still lives in Mexico. I also have a 19 year old son who is with me in the United States. I would use the money to help my son with his future.

Of course we had to ask, what is your favorite meal at District Taco?

Burrito Desnudo con pollo asado and whatever toppings I am feeling that day! I like to change it up sometimes but that is definitely my go-to.

We asked our managers at the Bailey’s location, what makes Paloma stick out?

Paloma hasn't been with the company that long, however, I see her as a future leader within this company. She is always so friendly to all of our customers and works extremely hard. Thanks for making a difference, Paloma!
