October is here! The sun is shining, leaves are starting to fall, and pumpkin spice everything is out in full force! Here at DT we have just as much going on! October is a busy month for us with Breast Cancer Awareness, National Taco Day, and a new project of ours, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fundraiser. We have a lot to get involved with this October, and hope you will join us in the celebration.
First up is our support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month only, a percentage of all Breakfast Taco (served all day!) sales will be donated to Living in Pink DC. We traditionally partner with Living in Pink to show our support for the local community. Our employees will also be flaunting bright pink hats to remind customers of the fundraiser and to promote awareness.
Inspired by founder Michele Conley, Living in Pink is a local organization who works to improve the lives of those living with breast cancer, celebrate the survivors and the individuals who fight the battle against breast cancer, and to help find a cure so that the next generation of women will not have to endure the emotional and physical pain of breast cancer surgery and treatment. Living in Pink works to fund research, raise awareness, support survivors, and so much more. Look out for the bright pink hats and pink stickers on your packaging. These are both gentle reminders to come visit us for your Breakfast Taco fix and help support an amazing cause!
As always, October 4th is one of our biggest, favorite days of the year. Why? Because it's National Taco Day! For us, it is like Cinco de Mayo round 2 and we love the excitement that it pulls! This year, we put our own twist on the "I voted" stickers allowing people to show their National Taco Day participation with pride!
And last, but certainly not least, we have added a new partner to our October activities, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We're so excited to support this organization all month long in their Halloween pinup campaign. To participate, simply purchase a children's coloring page/a St. Jude official pinup, or just donate to the cause, and all of the funds raised throughout the month of October will go back to the organization!
These pinups and coloring pages are fun and festive, but also have a lasting effect. See where your money and support can go below!
- $3 = pediatric isolation mask to help protect patients with compromised immune systems
- $10 = a new toy for hospital play areas at St. Jude housing facilities
- $30 = meals for one day for a St. Jude family in Kay Kafe, the St. Jude cafeteria
- $100 = a pair of pediatric crutches sized especially for children
- $265 = one red blood cell transfusion for a St. Jude patient
